    Job Summary

     

    Builds resources and capacity to increase the ability to accept placements and expand services provided for Refugee Programs.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Devise, implement and evaluate strategies and recruitment plan to assure adequate foster homes, providers and interpreters.
    2. Initiate contact with public entities and interested parties to recruit prospective foster parents, per strategy.
    3. Establish and maintain a current contact file with recruitment sources, prospective foster homes data files, and mailing lists.
    4. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with religious/community groups and key individuals to increase awareness of need for foster parents and organization's services.
    5. Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of recruitment strategies; compile statistical data related to service delivery outcomes and measurements. Provide reports and data as requested.
    6. Develop and circulate promotional materials in coordination with Communications and supervisor.
    7. Collaborate with Communications and supervisor to craft press releases promoting foster care awareness and recruitment.
    8. Create and present presentations that promote foster care awareness and recruitment to public groups, under supervisor guidance. 
    9. Participate in conferences, program planning, and outcomes.

    Job Qualifications

     

    Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

    • Bachelor's Degree in Community Organization, Social work or related field.

     

    Experience

    • Two years community outreach experience preferred.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to prioritize work projects and tasks; excellent organizational skills.
    • Strong presentation and facilitation skills. Ability to effectively and professionally convey information one-on-one and in front of small and large groups.
    • Ability to operate with minimal direct supervision.
    • Ability to demonstrate cultural and ethnic sensitivity.
    • Ability to work within complex social systems and coordinate resources.
    • Ability to work in team relationships with other professionals from varied community groups, agencies, and disciplines.
    • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of state and local human service systems and resources, and mobilizing individuals and groups.

     

    Additional Work Requirements

    • Unrestricted Michigan driver's license with good driving record. Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients; proof of current automobile insurance.

     

    Physical and Mental Requirements

    • Ability to move freely about.
    • High level of concentration over extended periods of time.
    • Near visual acuity.
    • Hand-eye coordination.
    • Hand and finger dexterity.
