Job Summary


Transports, loads and moves household and other goods to its designated destination. Assists with warehouse operations including providing guidance and mentoring volunteers, receipt of incoming donations, inventory control and building maintenance.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Operates organization’s vehicle or rental truck in compliance with organizational, state and federal regulations. Distributes goods to and from storage or assigned locations.
  2. Maintain vehicle cleanliness, interior and exterior. Monitor vehicle maintenance and performance through regularly scheduled inspections and service repair. Report safety and maintenance concerns to supervisor.
  3. Record mileage for all trips; maintain various vehicle logs as required. Maintain/ensure a minimum of one-quarter tank of gas in vehicle at all times.
  4. Oversee the receipt and documentation of incoming donations. Ensure inventory is stored in an orderly and accessible manner. Ensure inventory is cleaned and priced appropriately.
  5. Prepare inventory for transfer to Action Thrift Store.
  6. Provide guidance and mentor warehouse volunteers. Orient and provide necessary training.
  7. Maintain warehouse organization and aesthetics conducive to organizational requirements.
  8. Assist with building operations and maintenance.


Job Qualifications


Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.



  • Six months’ experience driving a van or large truck required.
  • One-year retail warehouse or related retail operation activities preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of state traffic laws. Possess basic knowledge of and ability to perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
  • Leadership skills with ability to effectively and professionally interact with donors, volunteers, staff and members of community.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to convey information accurately.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including data entry.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.


Additional Work Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Able to work a variable schedule including weekends and/or evenings.


Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a motor vehicle.
  • Near and far visual acuity as necessary to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move freely about.
  • Hand-eye coordination.
  • Hand and finger dexterity.
