Job Summary


Provides excellent customer service, promotes sales and performs merchandising and inventory duties for the Action Thrift Store.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist customers with finding and selecting merchandise, promoting sales.
  2. Lead gift-in-kind clients to meet the needs for the community.
  3. Operate cash register, receiving cash and balancing register.
  4. Participate in pricing merchandise.
  5. Set up advertising signs and display merchandise on shelves, counters or tables to attract customers and promote sales.
  6. Maintain store organization and aesthetics conducive to excellent customer appeal. Assist with ensuring that building and grounds are maintained.
  7. Clean display cases, shelves, and aisles.
  8. Assist with providing guidance to volunteers in accordance with volunteer policies/procedures and handbook.


Job Qualifications


Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.



  • One year retail sales experience preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers, volunteers and are general public.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to sit, stand and speak for extended periods of time.
  • Moves about store to assist customers, display and organize merchandise, clean and tidy shelves.
  • May lift/carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
