FOSTER CARE SUPERVISOR - DETROIT AREA

We're seeking a Foster Care Supervisor to guide and support a team of up to five dedicated caseworkers. In this role, you'll lead with empathy, ensure compliance with state policies, and champion best practices that promote safety and well-being for youth in our care.

  $  Salary:  $60,000 annually + comprehensive benefits effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment

  $  Bonus:  $5000 bonus available for those with at least 2 year direct experience in Foster Care specifically

🎓 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Sociology).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in child welfare or foster care services.
  • Unrestricted, valid driver’s license with good driving record. Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served; proof of current automobile insurance.

Provides support and leadership for case managers/case assistant teams that provide services for children and families on an assigned caseload in accordance with all applicable contractual and regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Provide weekly individual and team supervision to staff. Lead team meetings and train and support staff.
  2. Oversee assignment and placement of children.
  3. Work with licensing supervisor to ensure compliance with child placing agency rules and liaison with family court, DHS and other community systems.
  4. Provide a range of case management services, including social casework, counseling and treatment of clients, and community referral.
  5. Support, direction and leadership for case managers.
  6. Provide supportive casework services to child, birth family and foster family during initial placement and replacement.
  7. Prepare and attend all scheduled court hearings on assigned caseload.
  8. Ensure accurate and completion of all reports and assignments required by the organization or other agencies.

Job Qualifications

 

Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

Master degree in a Human Behavioral Science field AND 1 year of experience as a social service worker in an agency, or a child caring institution, or in an agency in a child welfare function PREFERRED 

OR

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Behavioral Science field AND 4 years of experience as a social service worker, 2 years of which are in an agency or in a child caring institution, or in an agency in a child welfare function REQUIRED.

  • Licensed by the State of Michigan as a social worker preferred.

 

Additional Work Requirements

  • Required to participate in a system of 24 hour availability to clients, foster and adoptive parents, and staff, as required.
  • Unrestricted, valid driver’s license with good driving record. Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served; proof of current automobile insurance.
